I am excited to announce the NEW Iris Bridge Leadership webpage! It is the outward expression of the deeply personal work of claiming my name – and who I am.
It all began with a desire to be in right relationship. To be aligned my deepest values and greatest gifts. That decision created a cascade of other changes. Because when my internal definition came into alignment, my outward expression needed to change, too.
My new webpage has deep symbolism, capturing what I feel is the magic of my work.
The iris is named for the Greek goddess who traveled between realms with winged boots. (How do you not love that?!?) In leadership, we are constantly asked to move between realms. Between our inner world, our deeply rooted sense of identity and values, and the organizational space where those must be expressed. Between intuition and embodied knowing—and the translation of that knowing into action plans, marketing campaigns, and five-year strategies.
To travel from one place to another, Iris used the rainbow bridge. The rainbow has long been a symbol of hope, of light after the storm, of beauty after darkness and the promise of a new day. Leaders are often called upon to hold the hope of an organization, the promise of what it can be and the ideals it serves. And often, this is asked of us when the conditions are least certain.
As leaders, we most need access to that inner realm—intuition, values, embodied knowing—when the day is darkest and the storm is most present. We cannot hold hope for others if we don’t have a source within ourselves.
This work—of clarifying who we are and expressing it outwardly—is the bridge.
